Now that we are into the new year, this is an opportunity for you to evaluate the status of your business. Do you have a well developed business strategy? Documented and reviewed regularly? With detailed action plans and timelines? And have you prepared your business plan for 2018?

There are a number of approaches and tools available to help with this task. I am a big fan of the KISS principle – Keep It Simple and Short! For smaller businesses in particular I recommend a workshop approach ending in a simple yet comprehensive one page summary of your business plan for the coming year. It includes sections for your mission, vision, values, your key strategic goals for the coming years and key action items for the next 90 days. All this on a simple one page fillable template!
